The Kumi Woman Member of Parliament, Monicah Amoding has urged the young women leaders who wish to take part in politics to do so with a lot of determination and focus.

Amoding, who was officiating the closing ceremony of young women leaders’ camp organized by Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE) for the last 11 days at Kyoto Namugongo, has noted that the young women leaders should put their shyness aside and storm the available political spaces and serve the communities.

She said, “With our focus on gender equality and equity, transformative leadership and visibility of women in policy making, we look forward to a just and fair society where women and men equally participate in and benefit from decision making processes.”

"With combined efforts and commitment to women’s emancipation, we want to shape the future," Amoding added

The chairperson FOWODE said they want to build a young leadership that has a vision and commitment to gender equality, social justice and social transformation

A total of 46 young women from different parts of the country were trained in becoming good leaders

Now FOWODE boasts a cadre of 810 alumni who are engaged in various leadership positions in institutions of higher learning, private sector, political leadership and within their communities.

The camp candidates include students, young women leaders, young professionals , entrepreneurs and leaders of organizations as well as those that just completed their academic career.
