UPL: Novices Kyetume begin maiden journey against record champions SC Villa in opener

The fixtures for the 2019/2020 StarTimes Uganda Premier League have been released at a function held at Namboole stadium.

According to the fixtures released on Wednesday morning, new league entrants Kyetume FC will begin their maiden journey in the country’s most elite league by hosting record champions, Sports Club Villa.

Kyetume beat Plascon in the playoffs to qualify for their maiden Uganda Premier League show as the third-best team in the FUFA Big League.

In the game to be played at Namboole stadium on the floodlights, it will be novices hosting record champions but fast declining former giants in SC Villa on Thursday, August 29.

In other games, KCCA FC will begin their title defence journey by hosting moneybags and new league entrants Wakiso Giants at the StarTimes stadium at Lugogo whereas Vipers will begin their journey with an away game to Bright Stars.

A total of only seven stadia around the country were licensed to host StarTimes Uganda Premier League games for the forthcoming season and these include Mandela national stadium (SC Villa, URA and Kyetume FC), StarTimes stadium (KCCA FC, Proline FC), Betway Muteesa II stadium(Express FC, Tooro United and Bright Stars)

Other stadia licenced to host league games are Luzira Prisons grounds (Maroons, Mbarara City, Onduparaka), Ssekabaka Kyabaggu stadium/ Wakissha (Wakiso Giants, Proline FC), St.Mary’s stadium (Vipers SC) and FUFA Technical Centre(BUL FC and Kirinya Jinja SS).

KCCA FC are the defending champions whereas Kyetume FC, Proline and Wakiso Giants are the new league entrants.
