NRM announces roadmap for the party primaries in newly created districts

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has launched the roadmap for the party primaries in the newly created districts of Karenga and Kikuube districts that were cut out of Kaabong and Hoima districts respectively.

While addressing the media at the party headquarters, Dr. Tanga Odoi, the party’s electoral commission chairperson noted that the nomination of the candidates will be held on 15th and 16th August.

“The NRM electoral commission here by announces a road map to get flag bearers for the two districts of Hoima and Kaabong," he said.

Dr Tanga said that on Friday the 9th up to 14th August the commission shall be calling and receiving the expression of interest and the forms shall be picked from the party headquarters.

He noted that the join campaign will start on Saturday 17th up to 24th August 2019.

He said the commission has already conducted primaries for Hoima and more concentration is going to put on Kaabong.

“I want to be clear, we have conducted primaries for Hoima already and we have a flag bearer.we are now going to concentrate our energies and time on Kaabong," he said.

He however warned the aspiring candidates to refrain from engaging in any practice of formal campaign until the gazetted time.

"Interested candidates are warned and their colleagues or parties are warned of refraining from the acts of hooliganism, acts of bribery, acts which are not compatible with free and fair elections,"he said.

He advised those who will not be satisfied with the outcome of the elections to seek better alternatives of addressing their grievances.

“You either go for elections where you are going to win or lose and accept results if you won’t accept results you move to court.There is no room for violence in this coming elections like in Kaabong and Karenga,”he said.
