Davis Asiimwe's 23 PTS lifted Our Saviour past Sharing Saints 77-75 last evening at the YMCA Basketball Court in Wandegeya to register their first W in the 2019 Men's National Basketball League.
Previously without a win, Our Saviour led the game 38-30 at the end of the first half to signal their intent, with Sharing's late surges not being enough to totally overhaul their deficit at full time courtesy of some moments of stellar defending.
The relegation-bound Kikoni-based side also had Stephen Wokorach and Elton Donald adding 16 and 12 PTS respectively. Leonardo Gilabi and Maker Mayen were in double figures for REB with 12 and 10 respectively.
Sharing Saints' Caesar Kizito's game high 28 PTS will be good enough for a losing effort for now. David Donat and Emmanuel Okumu added 11 and 10 PTS respectively for the Nsambya-based team.
Sharing coach, Raymond Muhumuza, with the recent sanctions against confrontational players in the league in mind, will be a candidate for sanctions of his own, following his dash to the officials' table post-game to express discontent on what he found to be poor officiation. It took efforts of Referee Mande Baker Kyambadde to walk him away.
This will not be the first time Sharing officials have been found to be wanting in the discipline department, with another official of theirs recently ejected from a game for throwing and cracking a courtside plastic chair in contest of a decision he felt should have gone his way.
In the other game, Power beat Ndejje University 84-75 in another close affair.
