The Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court has closed hearing of the case in which Dr. Stella Nyanzi is accused of cyber harassment and offensive communication case without her defence.
Nyanzi had asked court to summon President Museveni and CID Director AIGP Grace Akullo among other people as her defence witnesses by the request was not granted.
On Tuesday, Buganda Road court magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu adjourned the case to August,1, 2019 for judgment in the matter.
"It is clear that defence has no witnesses. They have consecutively sought for adjournments but have still failed to avail their witnesses to court,"Kamasanyu said.
She said despite being given time to produce witnesses for her defence, Nyanzi had failed to avail them prompting her to close the case.
Dr.Stella Nyanzi is accused of cyber harassment and offensive communication.
The vocal former Makerere University researcher is accused of having intentions to disturb the peace of President Museveni when she posted obscene messages on her official face book page while attacking the privacy of the President and that of his late mother, Esteri Kokundeka.
Prosecution states that Nyanzi committed the offences on September 16 through a disguised birthday message she allegedly sent to the president.
Under the Ugandan cyber law, any person who willfully and repeatedly uses electronic communication to disturb or attempts to disturb the peace or right of privacy of any person with no purpose of legitimate communication is liable on conviction to a fine of not exceeding 24 currency points or imprisonment or both.
