Members of parliament are concerned with the recent increase in the wave of insecurity in the country where people’s lives are being lost under unclear circumstances.
In the Tuesday Parliamentary sitting chaired by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, five MP’s consecutively raised a matter of national importance all reporting murder cases in their constituencies.
Kadaga informed the legislators that she had also received a petition from the boda boda riders in the country complaining about the state of their security.
Kadaga said in their petition, the riders are concerned that almost every day boda boda riders are butchered under unclear circumstances by unknown thugs who disappear with their motorcycles.
She also said mobile money dealers have become a target in these recent wave of crime.
After the speaker's submission, five MPs: Moses Kasibante of Lubaga North, Barnabas Tinkasimire of Buyaga West, Luttamaguzi Ssemakula of Nakaseke South and Gomba West legislator Robinah Rwakoojjo consecutively raised a matter of national importance all reporting murder cases in their constituencies.
The MPs demanded a statement from government on the state of security in the country saying many Ugandans now feel insecure.
