Video: Ofwono Opondo says Museveni okayed raid on BoU

President Museveni was briefed about the happenings on Saturday June 8 by Lt Col Edith Nakalema, it has been revealed.

Ofwono Opondo, the executive director of the Uganda Media Centre made the revelation in an exclusive interview with NBS TV's Joseph Sabiiti.

Ofwono said the president after learning about the gravity of the matter authorised Nakalema to raid the bank and bring the culprits to book.

"The president was fully briefed about everything because this is a serious matter," Ofwono said.

Ofwono told NBS TV that investigations show that there is no excess money was printed by BoU and brought into the country contrary to reports. He said the people who are under investigation are eight and more people will be questioned.

Earlier Nakalema had issued a statement confirming that her team had indeed raided the central bank. She said they are investigating a procurement consignment that made its way into the country.
