The former official of Buganda Kingdom Israel Mayengo has described Uganda as being in a miserable state since it became independent in 1962.

Speaking during NBS TV's Morning Breeze on Monday, Mayengo stated that Ugandans have not been in position to govern themselves properly hence living in a miserable state.

“All these things Public Order Management Act, Inter Party Organisation for Dialogue are symptoms to something which is not right," he said.

He noted that at the centre of politics in Uganda, individual interests are taking over national interests which need to be addressed.

“Until we get over that, we are in trouble,” he stated.

He added: "The current government has stayed in power for such a long time and the youths are now looking at how they can cause change."

He stated that European businessmen made Uganda therefore their purposes was entirely different from that of the natives.

He further noted that Inter Party Organisation for Dialogue is not relevant because it is not grounded in law and neither is it a law making body but rather a social discussion where leaders meet for a cup of tea.

“At the conclusion of their discussion to do they have a force of law, IPOD is not grounded in law and it’s not a law making body,” he said.

He noted that all what IPOD is undertaking is embellishing a structure on rotten foundation which may collapse at anytime.
