The first batch of mudslide survivors in Bududa have occupied their new homes in Bunambutye sub county, Bulambuli district.
Five families totalling to 35 people arrived in Bunambutye aboard an omnibus and landcruiser while their luggage was curried on trucks organised by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).
Upon reaching the site, they were guided to their new homes by officials from OPM and World Food Programme.
Some of them were seen praising and thanking the almighty for the milestone.
The communication officer in OPM Isaac Mugera noted that all is set for the resettled families to begin a new life.
However, those who were left behind are worried about the slow pace at which the relocation is being done adding that they are living in fear.
Mugera noted that the exercise will continue in phases beginning with the most at risk group.
He said 50 families will be resettled by end of this month.

110 houses have been constructed pending relocation of the survivors.
What worries the affected people is the slow pace at which the program is being implemented.
Some people had earlier expressed interest in being supported to resettle themselves, a suggestion that is yet to receive the blessing of government.
