Police in Kabarole district are holding a 28 year old Baguma Richard a teacher at God’s Care Primary School in Harugongo sub county Kabarole district for allegedly defiling a 14year old pupil and impregnating her.
The teacher reportedly tricked the girl by giving her newspapers to cover her books, past papers and textbooks for reading before involving her in the act.
His arrest came after parents of the girl took the matter to police.
Mugisa Solomon, the police community liaison officer Rwenzori West police station confirmed the incident and said after investigations Baguma will be charged with aggravated defilement.
Baguma told us at Fort Portal main police station that he slept with the girl once in November last year but denied that he had impregnated her.
According to police defilement cases in Kabarole district are on the increase although some parents prefer to settle the cases at family level.
Between January and April 2019, 20 defilement cases have so far been reported in Kabarole district.
