Uganda Cranes squad summoned for AFCON 2019

Mugabi, Isiagi summoned in the Uganda cranes preliminary squad as Desabre summons players for 2019 AFCON and COSAFA.

Yeovil Town FC’s towering defender Bevis Mugabi and Al Nasr’s Daniel Isiagi have been named on the Uganda cranes provisional team ahead of the 2019 AFCON Finals in Egypt.

This comes after their recent performances at their respective clubs. Isiagi has been a consistent starter for the Egyptian second tier side scoring a respectable number of goals ever since he joined the side last August, while defender Mugabi has been consistent with the English four tier side.

17 other players were named on the preliminary squad by the cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre including Startimes Uganda premier League top scorer, Juma Balinya, Golden boot winner James Alitho, Kirinya Jinja SS’ Joel Madondo, KCCA’S Patrick Kaddu among others.

The squad will start residential training on Monday 13th may 2019 where the coach will select the final players to join the training camp that will be held in the United Arab Emirates and to represent Uganda at the AFCON Finals in Egypt.

The team will be camping at Kabira country club.

The summoned 19 local based players for preliminary 2019 AFCON preparations.

In a related development, Mbarara city football club’s attacking midfielder Paul Mucureezi and Express FC defender John Revitah have made it to the COSAFA squad that starts training on Wednesday 15th may 2019 at the startimes stadium in Lugogo.

Mucureezi scored 12 league goals and assisted 12 times for the Ankole Lions in the recently concluded startimes Uganda premier league, while John Revita has been one of the Red Eagles’ best players this season.

The COSAFA tournament will be played from 25th of may to the 8th of June 2019 and Uganda will play from the quarter final stage.
