After a war that took 20 years and held the northern part of the country back in terms of development, some leaders are happy with what the NRM government has achieved in that area.
Sam Engola, the NRM party, Vice Chairperson northern region, said when it comes to infrastructure most of the roads have been constructed making transport easier.
“I left Lira yesterday at night, I was here at ten o’clock.”
Engola said that unlike the previous regimes where there where over 12 roadblocks on the road, his journey to kampala was problem free.
“We the northerners have suffered, I was in Obote’s government and roadblocks where everywhere,people shooting each other,” Engola remembered.

While on the Morning Breeze this morning at NBS, Engola said that one of the biggest problems faced by the north was lack of infrastructure but NRM has solved this.
“Two weeks ago, parliament passed the loan to do Lwekunya, Apac, Lira and Kitgum,” he revealed. He went on, “Soroti-Lira road we have tarmac, we are going to have Namusale-Dokolo tarmacked those are all achievements.”
He also noted that there are more schools in the area.
“There are more private schools than government schools and more are starting up. New buildings are coming up and all the trading centers business is moving.”
He did admit there challenges still to be addressed.
“In our area we have big problems, the cattle compensation has been there for the last 20-30 years.”
He has also blamed the opposition of sabotaging some of the government programs by turning them against the government.
Engola said that NRM has made Ugandans happy by bringing peace but the economy is one issue that makes them unhappy.
Nonetheless, Engola is confident that in the next general election come 2021- president Museveni will get more votes because he still has support.
“He is very popular now and strong. He will get the votes.”
