Sam Kutesa, the embattled Foreign Affairs minister, yesterday assured MPs and the country that he is free to travel abroad.
The assurance came after Kawempe North MP, Latif Ssebagala raised the matter in relation to allegations that he received a $500,000 (Shs1.8 billion) bribe from a Chinese company to help it gain business in Uganda.
A court in New York last year convicted Patrick Ho Chi Ping for allegedly offering the bribe to President Museveni allegedly through Kutesa, to secure support for China Energy Fund in Uganda’s energy industry.
Kutesa was cleared of any wrong doing by the Attorney General.

Appearing before the Foreign Affairs Committee to defend his ministry's proposed budget, Ssebagala queried: "We as committee members are worried about approving your budget because we see reports that you can longer move abroad and who will be responsible to supervise all these missions when you can longer travel abroad?"
Kutesa retorted that he was free to travel anywhere.
