Muslims in Bukomansimbi District gathered at Mahabuuba Primary School grounds to mark Eid al-Adha prayers, with religious leaders calling on parents to raise disciplined and obedient children guided by Islamic teachings.
The prayers were led by Sheikh Abdul Rahman Kizitto from Kibuli, who used his sermon to remind worshippers about the importance of obedience, unity and faithfulness to Allah.
Drawing lessons from the story of Prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismael, Sheikh Kizitto said parents should nurture children who are respectful and obedient, just as Ismael willingly accepted his father’s decision in fulfilment of Allah’s command.
“Parents must guide their children in the ways of Allah and teach them obedience, humility and discipline. The story of Prophet Ibrahim and Ismael teaches us the value of faith and submission to Allah,” Sheikh Kizitto said.
He urged Muslims to remain firm in observing Allah’s commandments and avoid immoral behaviour that could destroy families and communities.
“As believers, we should stay committed to Allah’s teachings and avoid behaviours that lead us away from righteousness. Eid is a time for reflection, sacrifice and strengthening our relationship with Allah,” he added.
The Sheikh also appealed to children and young people to respect and listen to their parents and elders, saying obedience lays a strong foundation for a peaceful and successful life.
He further encouraged Muslims to strengthen family ties, support relatives facing hardships and promote unity within communities.
“We must continue helping our relatives and neighbours, especially those going through difficult situations. Islam teaches us to care for one another and live in harmony,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Hajji Abdul Salaam Kizitto called on Muslims to dedicate more time to praying for the deceased and visiting parents and relatives during the Eid celebrations.
“Eid should remind us to pray for those who passed away and to reconnect with our parents and family members. Maintaining family bonds is very important in Islam,” he said.
The celebrations attracted hundreds of Muslims from different parts of Bukomansimbi District who gathered for prayers, sermons and social interaction as part of the Eid al-Adha festivities.
