Kanungu Leaders Sworn In as Byamukama Kapesha Pledges Unity, Service Delivery Focus
Francis Byamukama Kapesha has been sworn in as Kanungu District Chairperson alongside 53 councilors, with leaders pledging improved service delivery, infrastructure development and unity as Frank Byaruhanga is elected District Speaker.

Kanungu District Chairperson Francis Byamukama Kapesha and all 53 district councilors were sworn into office on Tuesday.

The council subsequently elected Frank Byaruhanga as District Speaker and Confort Kashemeire as Deputy Speaker.

The ceremony followed established administrative procedures and was presided over by Kabale Chief Magistrate His Worship Derrick Byamugisha. It was witnessed by District Planner Atuhaire Innocent, who represented the Chief Administrative Officer.

After taking the oath, Chairperson Byamukama Kapesha pledged to serve the people of Kanungu with commitment and integrity, outlining key priorities including improved service delivery, infrastructure development and strengthening unity among residents.

“I commit myself to work closely with political leaders, technical officers, development partners, and communities to coordinate efforts on development challenges and livelihoods. I call for cooperation across political lines, dialogue, peaceful engagement, and consensus-building as pillars of district progress,” Kapesha said.

The ceremony was attended by former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi and his wife Jacqueline Mbabazi, ICT Minister Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, Kinkizi West MP James Ruugi Kaberuka, Kanungu RDC Ambrose Mwesigye, religious leaders including Bishop Dan Zoreka and Bishop Sarah of the Pentecostal Church, as well as members of statutory boards.
