Colonel Emmanuel Ewama has been appointed the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Land Director of Human Resource Management, taking over from Brigadier General Edward Mutawe at the Land Force Headquarters.

Brig Gen Edward Mutawe was recently appointed as Uganda’s Defence Attaché to Ethiopia following his service in the Human Resource Management office within the UPDF Land Force.

The handover ceremony was presided over by the Chief Joint Staff Land Forces, Brigadier General Chris Bagonza, who commended both the outgoing and incoming officers for their dedicated service and commitment to duty.

Brig Gen Bagonza described leadership transition as an important aspect of institutional continuity and urged officers to remain focused, disciplined, and professional in the execution of their responsibilities.

“There is no Alpha and Omega in this office. Another person can always come and continue with the work that has been done; therefore, nobody should think they are irreplaceable,” he said.

He further encouraged Colonel Ewama to execute his new responsibilities with commitment and professionalism in order to strengthen human resource administration within the Land Force.

In his remarks, Brig Gen Mutawe expressed gratitude to the Chief Joint Staff Land Forces and all departments within the Land Force Headquarters for the support accorded to him during his tenure. He advised his successor to closely follow up on ongoing projects and wished him success in his new assignment.

Colonel Emmanuel Ewama, who previously served as Administrative Officer of the 1 Infantry Division, thanked the UPDF leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility.

He pledged to serve diligently and focus on improving personnel welfare and administration within the Land Force and the UPDF at large.

The ceremony was attended by directors and heads of departments within the Land Force Headquarters.
