There was excitement and celebration in Kawempe South as newly sworn-in Member of Parliament Madina Nsereko returned to the constituency, where hundreds of supporters gathered to welcome and celebrate with her.
The supporters, mainly members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), lined up in different parts of the constituency, waving party colours and chanting slogans in celebration of her victory and official swearing-in.
Speaking to residents shortly after her arrival, Madina thanked the people of Kawempe South for entrusting her with leadership and pledged to work with all leaders and supporters, including those she competed against during the NRM primaries.
“I want to thank all the people of Kawempe South for standing with me throughout this journey. This victory belongs to all of us, and now it is time to work together for the development of our area,” Madina said.
She emphasized the need for unity among NRM members, saying political competition should not divide supporters after elections.
“We may have competed during the primaries, but we remain one family under NRM. My focus now is serving the people and ensuring that Kawempe South gets the development it deserves,” she added.
Among the leaders who welcomed Madina was former NRM aspirant Hajjati Hanifah Karadi, who congratulated her upon taking oath as Member of Parliament.
Karadi called on all NRM supporters in Kawempe to put aside their differences and support the new MP in delivering services to residents.
“I congratulate Madina Nsereko upon her swearing-in. This is a proud moment for NRM supporters in Kawempe South, and I urge all party members to unite and work together for the good of our people,” Karadi said.
The celebrations continued in different parts of the constituency as supporters expressed optimism that Madina’s leadership would bring improved service delivery and stronger party unity in Kawempe South.
