The Salam Charity team recently conducted a field visit to Katakwi District to assess the performance of one of its mosque projects and explore additional ways to support surrounding communities in improving livelihoods and achieving self-development.
The mosques, donated jointly by Salam Charity and One Ummah Uganda, were established to improve access to places of worship for Muslims in underserved areas.
During the visit, the team inspected the operations of the mosque project and held engagements with local residents to better understand the community’s needs and identify opportunities for further support.
As part of the outreach activities, the charity team also visited one of the elderly beneficiaries supported under Salam Charity’s Zakah programme.
According to the beneficiary, the assistance she has been receiving has significantly improved her life, particularly after years of struggling to access medication and basic necessities.
In a gesture aimed at improving her mobility and quality of life, the Salam Charity team donated a wheelchair to the elderly woman — an item she said she had previously been unable to afford or access.
The team also delivered a food package containing rice, maize flour, sugar, salt, bread, soap, and cooking oil to support her and her grandchildren over the coming weeks.
Expressing gratitude, the beneficiary said she never imagined that people she had never met or been related to would one day transform her life through acts of kindness and generosity.
She offered prayers for Salam Charity and its supporters, asking Allah to bless them with good health, prosperity, and protection from hardship.
The visit highlights Salam Charity’s continued commitment to combining infrastructure development with targeted humanitarian assistance in vulnerable and underserved communities across Uganda.
Through initiatives such as mosque construction, Zakah support, and direct community outreach, the organisation says it aims to strengthen both spiritual and social welfare among disadvantaged populations.
