The Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga has urged Buganda subjects to uphold cleanliness and proper living standards in their homes, saying that a healthy and organized environment helps people serve the Kabaka better.

The Katikkiro made the remarks during a thanksgiving ceremony organized by The Kyadondo county Chief Kaggo Hajji Magandaazi Matovu to thank God for the blessings he has received, including his appointment as Kaggo, a county chief in Kyaddondo.

During the event, Mayiga officially opened Hajji Magandaazi’s newly constructed home located in Nalyamagonja-Manyangwa in Gayaza Parish, Nangabo Sub-county. Magandaazi previously lived in Kawempe before relocating to the new residence.

Mayiga praised him for being hardworking and said the house reflects discipline and good standards.

“Building a house alone is not enough. What matters most is maintaining standards and cleanliness because a healthy person is able to serve the Kabaka effectively,” Mayiga said.

After touring the house, the Katikkiro planted a commemorative tree at the residence.

The ceremony began with prayers led by Shek Shaban Galabuzi, who commended Hajji Magandaazi for remembering and thanking God for his achievements.

“People should always thank God for every blessing and milestone they achieve,” Galabuzi said.

He also praised Magandaazi for using his wealth responsibly and constructing a home that reflects dignity and progress.

Speaking at the event, Hajji Magandaazi said the thanksgiving ceremony was meant to appreciate God for the many blessings in his life, especially after surviving serious health challenges in 2023 when he underwent two surgeries.

“I went through difficult moments in 2023 and underwent two operations, but God helped me and I recovered well,” he said.

He also encouraged young people to work hard while still energetic, noting that he accumulated his wealth during his youth.

“Young people should work hard because most of the wealth I have was earned during my younger years,” Magandaazi added.

The function was attended by several leaders and dignitaries, including Minsa Kabanda, Wakiso Woman MP Betty Naluyima, Buganda ministers, and the Speaker of Buganda, all of whom delivered messages during the ceremony.
