Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje has launched a series of Halal Farmers’ Centres across the West Nile region, drawing large crowds of farmers and community members eager to benefit from the initiative.
Farmers—men, women, and schoolchildren—turned up in large numbers, moving in organised processions to welcome the Mufti and his delegation, signaling strong grassroots support for the project aimed at boosting agricultural productivity.
The activities began mid-morning following the Mufti’s arrival in Arua City on Wednesday. Shortly after landing, he was hosted by businessman Abubakar Diliga at his residence near the airstrip.
Speaking during the visit, Mufti Mubaje praised the local Muslim leadership led by Abu Jafar Shaban Karala for spearheading what he described as a transformative development.
“These massive projects exhibit visionary and clear-minded leadership grounded in unity and team spirit,” he said, while also acknowledging project financier Muhsin Moshen.
Local leaders urged farmers to embrace the initiative, highlighting its potential to enhance productivity through improved access to agricultural inputs and services.
From Arua, the Mufti proceeded to Koboko, where he was received by a large crowd led by host Kadhi Abubakar Songa Wailojo. During the visit, he commissioned the Kauthar Mosque, with leaders describing it as a significant boost to the Muslim community.
In Yumbe, leaders welcomed the project as timely, citing its potential to improve livelihoods through modernised farming practices.
“These centres will provide high-quality agricultural inputs and services aimed at increasing productivity and improving household incomes,” the Mufti emphasized.
The delegation also toured the Ershad Mosque Complex, a multi-storey development integrating commercial spaces. Two units within the complex were rebranded into a Halal Farmers’ Centre and officially launched during the visit.
The tour concluded in Yumbe Town Council, where another Halal Farmers’ Centre was commissioned, reinforcing the initiative’s regional reach.
The project is expected to strengthen agricultural output, improve incomes, and deepen community-based development across West Nile.
