The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has commended the late Besweri Kaddu—father of the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu— as a man who lived a meaningful life and made valuable contributions to society.
Born on August 1, 1933, as the third born of Lay Reader Simeon Kaziimba in Kiwangala Village, Najja Sub-County, Buikwe District, the late Kaddu passed away on Tuesday at Mengo Hospital.
He was 92.
In a message read by the Speaker of the Buganda Lukiiko (Parliament), Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule at Kaddu’s burial in Gulama, Najja Sub-County, Buikwe District on Friday, Katikkiro Mayiga expressed condolences on behalf of the Government of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
In his message, the Katikkiro expressed deep condolences to Archbishop Kaziimba and the entire bereaved family, acknowledging the profound pain of losing a loved one.
“While such grief is immeasurable, there remains gratitude to God for the life granted to the deceased. The late Kaddu made meaningful contributions during his lifetime,” the message read.
The Katikkiro also extended his sympathies to the head of the Mpindi Clan, Omutaka Mazige, following the loss of his grandson.
Representing Buganda, the burial ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Ssekiboobo, Gaster Lule Ntake, Godfrey Mbalire, and various chiefs serving the Kabaka at various levels.
