The 13th edition of the Kabaka Birthday Run was nothing short of a spectacle. Over 100,000 runners flooded the streets of Lubiri Mengo on Sunday morning in a fitting Kasiki to Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s 71st birthday.
Under the theme, “Men for good health to save the girl child and the fight to end HIV/AIDS by 2030,” the run saw a record-breaking turnout across the 5km, 10km, and 21km routes. But beyond the athleticism and the cause, this was a profound celebration of culture, identity, and community.
As a long-standing partner of the Buganda Kingdom, Pilsner Lager was on the ground to fuel the spirit of community, reinforcing the brand’s deep-rooted connection to the values that define the Kingdom.
Speaking on completion of her 5km for the day, Lillian Kansiime, Brand Manager Mainstream Beer at Uganda Breweries Limited said:

When the first finishers crossed the line, the post-run atmosphere shifted from the earlier test of endurance to a celebration of life. In the cool-down zone, Pilsner treated attendees to the “King of Beers,” with free samples of Pilsner King—a well-deserved taste to match their boldness and smooth pace in completing their respective routes.
The atmosphere lifted further with performances from emerging local talent, including Tom Dee, whose music kept the crowd energized long after the last runner had finished.
With the Kasiki now complete, all eyes turn to the Kabaka’s main birthday festivities, with Sunday’s turnout solidifying the run’s status as Uganda’s premier intersection of sport, community, advocacy, and heritage.
