Members of the Nkoba Zambogo Club from St. Peter’s SS Bombo Kalule, an institution under Bulemeezi County Chief Kkangaawo Ronald Mulondo, visited patients at Luweero General Hospital and donated essential items to support their welfare.
The group delivered items including sugar, soap, bread, and toilet paper, among others, as part of activities to mark the 71st birthday of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, sharing the celebration with patients.
Ebenezer Moses Jjuko, the patron of Nkoba Zambogo at St Peter’s SS Bombo Kalule, said the initiative is aimed at instilling values of compassion among members.
“Every year during the Kabaka’s birthday, we reach out to the vulnerable in our communities. This helps us teach our members and students the importance of caring for others and giving back to society,” Jjuko said.
Flavia Mpologoma, the chairperson of Nkoba Zambogo at the school and across the county, emphasised the cultural significance of supporting the needy.
“These activities strengthen people’s love for the Buganda Kingdom and promote unity. We encourage all schools, especially those with Nkoba Zambogo clubs, to actively engage in community service,” Mpologoma noted.
Patients and the hospital administration, led by Ronald Ssonko, the medical social worker at Luweero General Hospital, expressed gratitude for the support, noting that many patients lack basic necessities and caregivers.
“Some patients come without any assistance, and the hospital is not always in a position to provide everything they need. This kind of support means a lot to them,” Ssonko said.
“We are very grateful for this kind gesture. The items donated will greatly help our patients, and your visit has given them hope and joy,” he added.
