Buganda Kingdom Commissions Ambulances Ahead of Kabaka Birthday Run

By | April 7, 2026

Buganda Kingdom has called on all the Kabaka’s subjects to turn out in large numbers for the Kabaka’s 71st Birthday Run, scheduled for April 12, 2026, at Lubiri Palace.

As part of the preparations, the Kingdom today commissioned ambulances to provide emergency medical support to runners who may sustain injuries during the event. Subjects of the Kabaka, including schools such as Clevers Origin, Midland High School, and others, as well as various community groups, are actively purchasing kits and preparing to participate in the run.

Buganda Kingdom is intensifying efforts to ensure that the birthday celebrations, including the run, are conducted successfully and with dignity. Several ambulances have been deployed to offer quick medical attention to participants when needed.

The ambulances were officially commissioned by the Second Deputy Katikkiro, Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, at Bulange, Mengo. Addressing the public, Waggwa Nsibirwa urged all people of Buganda to participate.

“I call upon all people of Buganda to come out in large numbers and take part in this run scheduled for the 12th of this month,” he said.

Participation from schools and institutions continues to grow. Various groups, including school officials from Clevers Origin and Midland High School, are purchasing kits for the run. The kits are being distributed by different Kingdom ministers, including Mr. Nsibirwa.

Some of the Kabaka’s partners highlighted that their involvement also supports the Kingdom’s campaign against HIV/AIDS, with a special focus on protecting young girls.

“We have come forward to support the Kabaka’s campaign against HIV/AIDS in order to save the girl child,” one partner noted.

The Kabaka Birthday Run remains one of Buganda Kingdom’s major annual events, combining celebration with a strong public health message, particularly the fight against HIV/AIDS.
