Kigezi Bishop Urges Servant Leadership During Good Friday Service

The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, has called for servant leadership, urging Christians and public officials to put others first as a true reflection of their faith.

Bishop Akanjuna made the remarks while preaching during the diocesan staff Good Friday service held at the diocesan headquarters on Rugarama Hill in the Northern Division of Kabale Municipality. In his sermon, he emphasized that genuine service to God is demonstrated through selflessness and humility.

“Jesus Christ washed the feet of His disciples; it did not diminish His divine authority, but instead revealed His deep love, humility, and commitment to saving humanity from sin,” Akanjuna noted.

He urged leaders, both in the Church and public service, to emulate Christ’s example by serving others with sincerity and dedication.

“I challenge government officials to resist corruption, particularly in the distribution of Parish Development Model (PDM) funds. Mismanagement of such resources denies intended beneficiaries the opportunity to improve their livelihoods and undermines government efforts to fight poverty,” he added.

The bishop further called on leaders entrusted with public resources to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability to ensure funds reach the rightful beneficiaries.

Addressing diocesan staff, Bishop Akanjuna encouraged them to reflect on God’s goodness in their lives and extend that same kindness to others.
