Katikkiro Mayiga Urges Leaders to Prioritize Quality Work

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has called on leaders across the Buganda Kingdom to emphasize quality in everything they do, describing it as a key pillar in the journey to restore Buganda to its former glory.

He made the remarks at Muteesa 1 Royal University in Kakeeka Mengo while officially opening a leadership retreat in Buganda Kingdom that brought together leaders from different levels of the kingdom. The retreat is held under the theme of improving standards in all aspects of leadership and service.

The retreat is attended by county chiefs, Kabaka’s ministers, members of the Buganda Lukiiko, heads of Kabakas institutions, and other kingdom officials.

While opening this Retreat Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, has called on leaders across the Buganda Kingdom to emphasize quality in everything they do, describing it as a key pillar in the journey to restore Buganda to its former glory.

“Leaders must prioritize quality in everything they do. This should be central in our journey to take Buganda back to the top.”

“We appreciate what has been achieved so far, but this is not the time to relax. Leaders must stay focused and remain committed to their responsibilities.” Katikkiro Said

Katikkiro Mayiga also reminded youths in Buganda that Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has great trust and hope in them.

“The Kabaka has a lot of confidence in the youth. They must therefore be disciplined, hardworking, and take good care of their lives.”

“Young people should maintain high levels of cleanliness and avoid careless living.”

Update on Namutayiika Program

The Second Deputy Katikkiro and Kingdom Treasurer, Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, informed the retreat that the Kingdom Strategic development Plan q (2023–2028) is now about 80% implemented after two and a half years.

This program focuses on:Wealth creation

Preservation and development of Buganda’s heritage ,Improving Kabaka’s Subjects livelihoods ,Enhancing economic awareness

“Even though the program has made progress, we have identified gaps which are now being addressed to strengthen Buganda’s journey to the top.” Waggwa Said

Some of the newly introduced initiatives in this development plan include:Establishment of nursery schools in sub-counties ,Setting up agricultural and trade hubs , including in Buwekula

The leadership retreat will run for two days, focusing on strategies to improve standards across all sectors of the kingdom.
