The Second Deputy Katikkiro and Treasurer of Buganda Kingdom, Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, encouraged students to steer clear of harmful influences that could derail their futures.
Nsibirwa made the remarks during a ceremony celebrating the release of the Senior One and Senior Two final exam results and the newly established sports grounds of Luzira Secondary School.
Nsibirwa reminded students to respect and learn from their communities, warning against associating with individuals who may have negative intentions, as such interactions could prevent them from achieving their dreams. He urged the students to heed the advice of school leaders and parents to build a strong foundation for their lives.
“Students should embrace ethical behavior, remain focused on their responsibilities, and cultivate a mindset that guides them in making the right decisions. By doing so, they will honor their parents and teachers and succeed academically,” he said.
Nsibirwa also expressed delight at the success of the students who have previously studied at Luzira Secondary School and encouraged alumni to actively participate in the Luzira Old Students Association, supporting initiatives that strengthen and develop the school.
The ceremony included a service led by The Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt. Rev Moses Banja, who urged students to remain accountable to God in their studies while remembering the contributions of those who came before them.
The School Headteacher, Peter Hormisdas Ssenyimba, thanked parents for trusting the institution with their children’s education. Out of 64 students who sat for the final exams last year, the majority performed exceptionally well, with four students achieving top marks of 20 points in Senior One.
The event also marked the launch of a fundraising initiative to construct new classrooms at the school, with Shs 116 million already raised to support the four-classroom expansion.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including First Deputy of Kaggo Ronald Bakulumpagi, Katikkiro of the Enyonyi Endiisa Clan, Dr. Livingstone Ddungu, politicians, and other community leaders.
