Uganda Launches “Protect Uganda’s Future” Digital Campaign to End Child Exploitation

The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD) has officially launched Protect Uganda’s Future”, a nationwide digital awareness campaign under the Ending Child Labour, Slavery & Trafficking Programme.

The month-long initiative aims to mobilize Ugandans to prevent child labour, modern slavery, and human trafficking through digital platforms including X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok.

Speaking at the launch, Ministry officials stressed that child exploitation threatens the safety, dignity, and future of Uganda’s children and vulnerable populations.

“Every child deserves freedom, safety, and dignity. When children are forced into harmful work, when young people are deceived by fake job opportunities, and when any person is controlled or exploited, Uganda loses its future. This campaign is a call to every Ugandan to play their part in prevention and protection,” the Ministry said.

The campaign will be rolled out with the support of digital influencers and strategic partners, who will share content highlighting the risks of exploitation, steps to prevent it, and ways to report suspected cases.

The Ministry emphasized that awareness alone is not enough; citizens must take an active role in reporting abuses through the Child Helpline 116, which provides confidential support.

This initiative complements ongoing government interventions, including nationwide labour inspections, compliance monitoring in workplaces and supply chains, and community engagement activities.
