Pearl Bank has reinforced its commitment to improving education in Uganda by donating motorcycles to support the work of Diocesan Education Inspectors (DEIs).
The initiative, carried out in partnership with the Church of Uganda Education Directorate, aims to improve access to hard-to-reach schools, particularly in underserved rural areas.
The motorcycles will ease transportation challenges faced by DEIs, enabling them to conduct regular inspections, monitor school performance, and ensure consistent education standards across the country. This donation is part of a broader plan by the Church of Uganda to enhance mobility for its education officers.
Speaking at the handover event in Mengo, Martin Mugisha, Executive Director of Operations at Pearl Bank, emphasized the critical role of education in national development.
“Education is a fundamental pillar for national development. Our partnership with the Church of Uganda Education Directorate symbolizes Pearl Bank’s commitment to supporting education and community development,” he said.
Mugisha added that by facilitating the movement of education inspectors, the bank is directly contributing to improved oversight and quality of education, especially in regions where access has long been a challenge.
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu, expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting its practical impact on the Church’s education mission.
“We are grateful to Pearl Bank for its continued partnership and tangible support toward improving our education initiatives. The motorcycles will enable our Diocesan Education Inspectors to reach mostly inaccessible schools and ensure consistent quality of education,” he said.
The Church of Uganda operates a wide network of schools across the country, playing a significant role in shaping Uganda’s education landscape. However, many institutions—especially those in remote areas—remain difficult to access due to poor infrastructure.
Through this initiative, Pearl Bank not only strengthens education oversight but also contributes to broader socio-economic development. By supporting key sectors like education, the bank continues to advance its purpose of fostering prosperity for Ugandans.
The partnership exemplifies how collaboration between financial institutions and faith-based organizations can address systemic challenges and improve service delivery in critical sectors like education.
