Kitagwenda District has registered an increase in its budget for the 2025/2026 financial year, a development attributed to improved performance in local government service delivery.
The district’s budget has risen from shs 28.25 billion in the current financial year to approximately shs 29.31 billion, reflecting an increase of over shs 1 billion.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Moses R.K. Dalili, during a district council meeting held at the district headquarters.
Addressing council members, Dalili linked the budget increment to better results in the Local Government Service Delivery Performance Assessment conducted by the Office of the Prime Minister.
“Our improved performance as a district has contributed to this increase in the budget,” Dalili said. “We moved from 66 percent in the previous assessment to 72.9 percent according to the preliminary results, which is a significant step forward.”
He commended both political leaders and technical staff for their joint efforts in enhancing service delivery across the district.
“I want to applaud the councilors and the technical team for working together to achieve this progress. This kind of teamwork is what drives development,” he added.
Dalili further urged all stakeholders to maintain the momentum and continue prioritizing effective service delivery to ensure even better performance in future assessments.
“We should not relax but instead build on this achievement to deliver more to our people,” he emphasized.
