The National Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Women’s League, Adrine Kobusingye, has underscored the importance of balancing leadership, family, and personal wellbeing, sharing insights from her personal and professional journey.
Speaking to Mildred Tuhaise during NBS People and Power, Kobusingye described her recent experience meeting the President at State House as both humbling and inspiring.
“It felt nice meeting the President at State House. I was like, "It is actually me here," and it was so humbling and exciting,” she said.
Kobusingye also reflected on her approach to motherhood, emphasising the value of building close and open relationships with children.
“The first secret to motherhood is to be a friend to your children,” she said, adding that she regularly shares stories from her life to guide and inspire them.
“We have shared a lot together, and we have made visions together,” she said, highlighting the importance of mutual understanding and shared aspirations within the family.
On the role of family in shaping independence, Kobusingye revealed that her children are keen on forging their own paths rather than taking over the family business.
“My children don’t like the idea of me telling them to study and come and run my business. They want to work for their own and make their own names and build their brand,” she said.
However, she noted that they remain actively involved in the family enterprise during school holidays, gaining practical exposure and experience.
Kobusingye used the platform to advise women to pursue financial independence while maintaining a holistic approach to life. She emphasised that success should not come at the expense of family, relationships, or health.
“My advice to women is that you need to make money, but family, friends, faith, and physique matter. Always strike a balance,” she said.
Kobusingye further cautioned against neglecting personal wellbeing, noting that good health is essential to enjoying the benefits of financial success.
“Don’t ignore the family. Create much time for your friends and family. Having all that money without good fitness is not okay. Avoid lifestyle diseases,” she said.
