Muslims in Nateete marked Eid Mubarak following the completion of the holy month of Ramadan, gathering at Nateete Mosque for prayers that began at 9am.
The service was led by the Deputy District Kadhi of Rubaga, Sheikh Mohammad Muganga.
In his message, Sheikh Muganga prayed for peace in Uganda and across the world, highlighting ongoing conflicts such as the war involving Iran.
“We pray for peace in our country and globally, and we call upon nations to embrace unity and dialogue instead of war,” he said.
The treasurer of Nateete Mosque, Hajji Adullah Kitata, commended security agencies, particularly Nateete Police, for ensuring the celebrations were conducted safely and without disruption.
“We thank the security teams, especially the police, for keeping law and order during this important celebration,” Kitata said.
He also urged Muslim leaders to be accountable and ensure community resources are properly used to improve welfare.
“Leaders must be accountable and use resources meant for Muslims to improve their welfare,” he added.
Rubaga District education official Asadu Kirabira congratulated Muslims for completing the fast and reaching Eid, calling on parents to instill strong Islamic values and discipline in their children.
“Parents should guide their children in the teachings of Islam so they grow up with good character,” he said.
Hajji Ali Mwezira extended Eid greetings and encouraged the community to maintain the good conduct practiced during Ramadan while continuing prayers in light of global challenges.
“Let us continue praying and uphold the discipline we showed during Ramadan, especially in these challenging times,” he said.
