Kabaka Ronald Mutebi has extended heartfelt greetings to Muslims across Uganda and the global Islamic community on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr 2026, following the completion of Ramadan.
In his message, the Kabaka expressed gratitude to Allah for guiding the nation through the spiritually significant month and commended the faithful for observing the fast with devotion.
He urged continued commitment to worship and moral integrity, stressing the importance of charity, service, and generosity as pillars that strengthen both individuals and the nation.
“The act of fasting is not only a spiritual discipline but also strengthens our communities. We urge our people to embrace the principles of kindness, generosity, and selflessness, which benefit both individuals and our beloved country,” the Kabaka wrote.
The Kabaka also highlighted the importance of civic engagement, encouraging citizens to participate responsibly in leadership elections and to hold elected leaders accountable.
He called on leaders to fight corruption, reduce poverty, and improve living conditions for all Ugandans.
Acknowledging reports of unrest in parts of Uganda, particularly in Buganda, the Kabaka appealed for peace, unity, and dialogue.
He further encouraged young people, especially social media users on platforms like TikTok, to share truthful information and promote positive societal values, including religious education, cultural heritage, literacy, health, and civic responsibility.
“Let us continue to pray for our Kingdom and for leadership guided by integrity and service to the people. Through collective effort, we can uplift communities, protect our land, and secure a prosperous future for all,” he added.
The Kabaka concluded by wishing Muslims across Uganda a joyous Eid al-Fitr, marked by peace, unity, and spiritual fulfillment.
Muslims in Uganda observed Ramathan from Wednesday, February 18, 2026, following the official sighting of the crescent moon in the Middle East and confirmed locally.
The Eid al-Fitr prayers marking the end of Ramadan are expected to take place on either Friday, March 20, 2026, or Saturday, March 21, 2026, depending on the sighting of the new moon of Shawwal.
