Landowners from the Pabule clan in Adjumani District have offered 45.442 acres of land for the planned construction of a Presidential State Lodge, a presidential model farm and other related State House Uganda activities.
A delegation of State House officials led by Morrish Ochen, Commissioner for Technology Transfer, toured the proposed site together with district leaders headed by Jessica Ababiku.
The land is located in Robidire Village, Alere Parish, Pachara Sub-county in Adjumani District.
Speaking on behalf of the landowners, Sisto Amoko said the decision followed consultations with clan members, local leaders and technical officials from the district local government.
“We the landowners have offered the land in good faith, and the relevant stakeholders have all consented to our terms,” Amoko said.
State House officials confirmed that duly signed land agreement documents will be presented to President Yoweri Museveni for official approval of the planned developments.
The inspection team included Emmanuel Iluker, Principal Legal Officer, Roseline Acen, Senior Agriculture Officer, and Francis Edimu, an agronomist.
According to Kennedy Kanzo, LCIII Chairperson of Pachara Sub-county, the land offered has no encumbrances and enjoys community support.
Jessica Ababiku revealed that she recently wrote to the President informing him that land had been secured for the project, describing the development as a milestone for the wider Ma’di sub-region.
She also cited ongoing initiatives such as the Presidential Skilling Hub in Olia Village, Pakele Sub-county, aimed at equipping youth with vocational skills.
After receiving the land documents, Dr Ochen said activities on the site are expected to begin soon.
“The land was given for the establishment of a Presidential State Lodge, but we shall also establish a presidential demonstration farm on about four acres so residents can learn modern farming techniques,” he said.
He added that the model farm will support communities to adopt commercial agriculture practices to improve household incomes and livelihoods.
Meanwhile, Adjumani Resident District Commissioner Swaib Toko cautioned landowners against reversing their decision in future, urging them to uphold the agreement.
He also called on State House to fast-track the establishment of the planned facilities so that the community can begin benefiting from the project.
