Merry Christmas the Digital way

Christmas fast approaches, one cannot fail to notice that the old theme of

residents shouting across streets; “Merry Christmas” is long gone.

The vibe that excites people with Christmas décor is long vanished, and now people splash a lot of Christmas themes, and balloons on social media and chain messages via WhatsApp.

A number

have taken it a notch higher, they are designing graphics and hiding behind

social media following to send festive season greetings.

The Christmas

cards that would make us beam with smiles are forgotten, the shopping we got

from forgotten relatives is now a joke on WhatsApp status updates.

The digital media has changed our entire approach; we review the digital messages from a few ‘important’ people;

A message from President Museveni. The President has made it a habit now, that he should release a designed message for his followers and the country at large.

Singer and legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has enjoyed the most social media presence this year. Just like the trend is, he also has a message

President Museveni has influenced a few more others.

Companies have not been left out.

It is also an opportunity to advertise

Even families are taking it up.

Others are not moved by the design. All they need is the message out there.

Members of Parliament must be paying so much for such designs, after all it is the trend

It is a time for everyone who believes they have a certain following.

To others, it is a time to play your favorite picture.

As for the rest, they assume just their face is enough.
