Two people have died and two others sustained injuries following a fatal road crash in Luweero District in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police report that the accident occurred around 4:00 a.m. today, Sunday at Kiwumpa Village in Luwero Town Council along the busy Gulu–Kampala Highway.

The crash involved an Isuzu bus (registration number UAL 821N) belonging to Real Company and a white Isuzu Hino truck (registration UA 951AF), both traveling from Luweero toward Kampala. Preliminary investigations suggest that the bus driver lost control and collided with the rear of the truck.

The bus driver, David Mukembo, and the bus conductor died instantly at the scene. Two unidentified male passengers were injured and rushed to Luweero General Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the hospital mortuary pending postmortem examinations.

ASP Sam Twiineamazima, Savannah Region Police PRO, said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident. He also urged motorists to exercise caution, observe speed limits, and follow traffic rules, particularly on major highways.

“The public is urged to exercise caution on the roads, adhere to speed limits, and observe traffic rules to prevent such tragic incidents,” Twiineamazima said.

Authorities promise to provide further updates as the investigations continue.
