Muslim Leaders Urge Faithful to Uphold Ramathan Values Beyond the Fasting Month

Nampaji urged Muslims not to abandon the discipline they demonstrated during Ramathan, especially in their conduct, dress code and daily actions.

Muslim leaders in Bukomansimbi District have urged believers to maintain the discipline, good conduct and devotion they have practiced during the holy month of Ramathan even after the fasting period ends.

The call was made during the last Friday (Juma) prayers of Ramathan at Bukomansimbi Main Mosque, where hundreds of Muslims from different parts of the district gathered for congregational prayers.

Leading the prayers, Muhammad Muusa Nampaji, who heads Islamic Daawa activities in Bukomansimbi District, emphasized the importance of sustaining the moral values Muslims observe during the holy month.

In his sermon, Nampaji urged Muslims not to abandon the discipline they demonstrated during Ramathan, especially in their conduct, dress code and daily actions.

He noted that many Muslims tend to change their behaviour positively during Ramathan but return to old habits once the month ends. He therefore encouraged believers to make the good deeds and character they practiced during the month a permanent part of their lives.

The cleric also reminded Muslims about the spiritual significance of the last ten days of Ramathan, which include the highly revered night known as Laylat al-Qadr. He called upon believers to intensify prayers, supplication and remembrance of Allah during this period, noting that the night is believed to be more rewarding than a thousand months of worship.

“Muslims should use these remaining days wisely by praying, seeking forgiveness and asking Allah to improve their lives and ease the hardships they are facing because this is the night when all angels come down to earth led by Jibril waiting for those who are asking from Allah to be given,” Nampaji said.

He further reminded the faithful about the importance of giving Zakat, the obligatory charity in Islam meant to support the needy and strengthen solidarity within the Muslim community.

During the same gathering, the Supreme Khadhi of Bukomansimbi, Muhammad Mufti Ssenyondo, also called for unity and reconciliation among residents, particularly political leaders and supporters who recently participated in elections.

Ssenyondo urged politicians and their followers to forgive one another and put aside political differences for the sake of peace and development in the district.

He emphasized that forgiveness and unity are key values in Islam, especially during the holy month of Ramathan when believers are encouraged to strengthen brotherhood and compassion.

“This is the night when all angels come down to earth led by Jibril waiting for those who are asking from Allah to be given. Therefore I urge you to pray to Allah as much as possible and pray for big things and Allah will give them to you,” he said.

The prayers and messages come as Muslims around the world prepare to mark Eid al-Fitr, which signifies the end of the fasting month and is celebrated with prayers, charity and communal gatherings.
