The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations (SPA/SO), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has donated sports equipment and Shs 10 million to support the upcoming Tooro Kingdom Inter-Clans Football Tournament.

The competition is set to kick off on April 7, 2026, with the final match scheduled for May 4, 2026.

The contribution was officially handed over on Gen. Muhoozi’s behalf by the Joint Staff for Formal Education, Sports and Culture, Brigadier General Richard Karemire, to the Tooro Kingdom Minister for Education, Youth and Sports, Eng. Divine Francis Atwoki Kateeba.

Gen. Muhoozi said the support, which includes both football equipment and financial assistance, is intended to facilitate the smooth organisation of the tournament.

He commended the leadership and people of the Tooro Kingdom for their longstanding association with the National Resistance Army and later the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), and reaffirmed UPDF’s commitment to initiatives that promote national unity, community development, and youth engagement through sports.

Receiving the donation, Eng. Kateeba expressed gratitude to Gen. Muhoozi and the UPDF, noting that the gesture reflects the force’s people-centred approach.

“This generous contribution from Gen. Muhoozi and the UPDF will go a long way in ensuring a successful tournament and promoting youth engagement in sports,” he said.

Kateeba also highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration between cultural institutions and security forces, adding that cultural and sporting events help preserve traditions while fostering harmony among communities.

The event was attended by the UPDF Staff Officer for Sports, Maj Henry Mwijuka.
