fellow, Stella Nyanzi has been relieved of her duties at Makerere University.

Nyanzi’s dismissal emanates from a meeting by the appointments board that sat on December 11, 2018 and resolved to halt Nyanzi’s employment citing expiry of her contract.

According to sources within the university, it was discovered that

Nyanzi had run out of contract but had been kept at the institution by the

former Vice Chancellor, Ddumba Ssentamu.

In April 2016, Makerere University suspended Nyanzi for stripping naked and sharing her nude pictures while protesting the management style of her boss, Prof. Mahmood Mamdani. She would however be reinstated following end of her suspension spell.

In 2017, Nyanzi was indefinitely suspended for allegedly insulting First

Lady Janet Museveni, who is also the Education and sports minister.

However, the staff appeals tribunal a year later ruled that the

indefinite suspension to which Makerere subjected Nyanzi was illegal and contravened

Sections 63(2) of the Employment Act, 2006. Section 63(2) demands that any

suspension under sub-section (1) shall not exceed four weeks or the duration of

the inquiry.

The institution was then ordered to pay emoluments to Nyanzi, but

the ruling was only a fart in the wind.

Nyanzi would later land herself in more trouble when she launched an attack on the mother of President Museveni in a facebook post in October. She was arrested for the same when she went to demand for the emoluments.

Nyanzi now is on remand in Luzira Prison until after Christmas.

However, Nyanzi is not the only victim of the Appointments board,

31 others have been shown the exit.

Among those on the chopping board are; Dr Swizen Kyomuhendo who

was implicated for sexually assaulting students in batter exchange for marks.

Sixteen lecturers have also been dismissed for abscondment. While two others terminated for financial fraud and seeking bribes.
