Vivo Energy Uganda on Thursday evening hosted leading stakeholders and members of the Chinese business community in Kampala to celebrate the 2026 Chinese New Year and usher in the Year of the Horse.
The celebration, rooted in themes of renewal, prosperity and sustained relationships, went beyond ceremony and served as a platform for strategic engagement.
The company said the event reinforced its commitment to long-term collaboration and shared commercial success with Chinese enterprises operating in Uganda.
The gathering brought together senior leadership from Vivo Energy Uganda, government representatives, industry partners and key customers drawn from construction, manufacturing, transport and infrastructure development.
Speaking at the event, Managing Director Joanita Mukasa Menya highlighted the strength of the partnership between the company and Chinese businesses.
“As we enter the Year of the Horse, we are inspired by its symbolism of resilience, speed, and strength. Our partnerships are built not only on performance but also on trust, mutual respect, and shared ambition. At Vivo Energy Uganda, we are proud to stand alongside our partners as a stable, long-term energy partner committed to powering your next move,” she said.
She reiterated the company’s focus on reliability, operational excellence and customer-centred solutions aimed at supporting growth across Uganda’s industrial landscape.
Also addressing guests, Hans Paulsen, Executive Vice President East at Vivo Energy Group, underscored the group’s drive towards innovation and value addition across its footprint.
“At Vivo Energy, we don’t just supply energy; we invest in solutions that enhance our customers’ operational certainty and efficiency," he said.
"Across our footprint, digital innovations such as VE-CEM (Continuous Equipment Monitoring) are providing real-time insights into fleet and equipment health, enabling predictive maintenance, reducing unplanned downtime, and lowering total operating costs for businesses."
Paulsen added that this capability demonstrates how we are evolving our commercial value proposition to go beyond fuel supply to deliver tools that help businesses run smarter and stronger.
"For our partners here in Uganda, this represents practical support for competitiveness, reliability, and long-term growth,” he said.
Through such innovations, the company said it is positioning itself as more than a fuel supplier, but as a strategic partner supporting efficiency, competitiveness and sustainable expansion.
Representing the Chinese business community, Huang Tao of Wagagai Mining Uganda Limited commended the spirit of collaboration that defined the evening.
“Chinese enterprises operating in Uganda value stability, local knowledge and partners who understand commercial realities. Vivo Energy Uganda has demonstrated reliability and responsiveness that align with our operational needs. As we continue to invest and expand, partnerships like this give us confidence to pursue long-term growth,” he said.
By aligning the engagement with the spirit of renewal and respect that defines the Chinese New Year, Vivo Energy Uganda reaffirmed its commitment to meaningful collaboration, cultural understanding and long-term value creation.
