Outspoken city preacher Isaac Rwomushana of God Is Good Outreach Ministries International has said that God alone performs miracles and warned churches against elevating routines, personalities, or public expectations above divine authority.
Fresh from controversy over his anti-pressure stance on tithing, Rwomushana, while appearing on Sanyuka Television, challenged what he described as the “overextension” of church culture beyond its spiritual mandate.
“God is sovereign. When the time for praying is over, it is finished — what are you still doing in church?” he asked.
He also warned against turning pastors into what he termed “miracle brands.”
“There is only one miracle worker, and that is God,” Rwomushana said, emphasizing that spiritual leaders should direct believers to God rather than positioning themselves as the source of breakthroughs.
According to him, when church services shift focus from worship to performance, the essence of faith is diluted. He argued that prayer and worship should not be prolonged merely for effect or to meet public expectations.
His recent viral remarks have drawn mixed reactions, with some praising his boldness and others suggesting that his tone risks undermining long-held church traditions.
Rwomushana acknowledged that his teachings often contradict mainstream preaching but said he remains unapologetic.
“I choose what God wants, not what people want,” he said. “My teachings seem to contradict others because I speak what I believe is the truth.”
The preacher maintained that spiritual leadership should not be driven by applause, social approval, or pressure to conform.
