Nabweru Leaders Urge Speedy Completion of Road Works

Leaders in Nabweru, a suburb of Nansana Municipality, have called on road contractors to expedite ongoing construction works to enable residents to start using the improved roads.

The appeal was made during an inspection tour of roads under construction, including Lugoba Ii, Nabweru, and Kazo roads. The leaders expressed optimism that once completed, the roads will ease transport challenges and improve livelihoods.

Led by Kazo LC Chairperson Nathan Bogere, popularly known as Pakacha, the delegation commended residents for cooperating with the project by offering portions of their land without demanding compensation.

“We are grateful to our people for willingly giving up their land for this development without asking for compensation,” Bogere said. “This shows how eager the community is to see better roads and improved services.”

Bogere noted that residents have endured years of hardship due to the poor state of the roads, which are characterized by potholes, mud, and dust that have disrupted daily life and eroded public confidence.

“These roads have been in a terrible state for years. The potholes, mud, and dust have made movement difficult and frustrated residents,” he added.

Residents living and working along the roads say they are eager for the works to be completed so they can resume business activities, including the transportation of agricultural produce.

“Once the roads are finished, we shall be able to transport our produce easily said one local trader.

Project officials confirmed that funding for the road works was provided by the World Bank, and additional support from President  Museveni.

The upgraded roads will include culverts and drainage channels to manage storm water and are expected to reduce traffic congestion along the busy Nansana routes, bringing long-awaited relief to residents and road users.
