These initiatives, implemented in partnership with local governments, development agencies, and other stakeholders, aim to improve public works, ensure compliance with safety standards, and enhance urban development across Uganda’s cities and municipalities, with projects slated to commence in 2026.

The meetings signaled Uganda’s growing focus on expanding its transport infrastructure to boost economic development. Key discussions included railway and road projects, air transport partnerships, and strategies to improve regional connectivity.

The engagement with Ethiopia was particularly strategic, given the country’s significant investment in air transport, which has strengthened its tourism and overall economic competitiveness. Minister Wamala highlighted opportunities to strengthen ties between Ethiopian Airlines and Uganda Airlines and to collaborate on regional transport initiatives.

“We received a delegation from the United States Embassy led by Ambassador William Pop, and our discussion focused mainly on infrastructure development in Uganda. We also welcomed Her Excellency Elsenget Bezabih, accompanied by officers from Ethiopian Airlines, and we explored strengthening aviation ties and collaboration on regional transport projects,” Wamala said.
