Chil’s Dettol Hygiene Quest Launches Digital  Hygiene Assessment Initiative with Districts

By | February 20, 2026

Reckitt, the global consumer health and hygiene company behind brands, in partnership with Chil AI Lab, has announced the nationwide rollout of Chil’s Dettol Hygiene Quest Uganda, a technology-driven hygiene knowledge assessment program.

The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with local government districts across Uganda and is designed to strengthen hygiene education through data and digital innovation.

At the core of the program is Keti AI, an intelligent chatbot platform that enables real-time tracking of students’ hygiene literacy through digital assessments administered at the beginning, middle, and end of each academic term.

District leaders will gain immediate access to data-driven insights on student understanding of critical hygiene practices—particularly handwashing—through automated analysis and performance dashboards.

The program adopts a flexible, district-led approach, allowing school administrators to opt in voluntarily and set their own standardized assessments with core hygiene questions.

Teachers can either upload student responses for AI-powered automatic marking or submit manually graded results for automated analysis, ensuring both accuracy and ease of use across different school contexts.

“Data is central to effective decision-making,” said Sandra Nabakka, Head of Data for Impact at Dettol Hygiene Quest.

“By giving districts real-time visibility into student knowledge, we ensure that hygiene interventions are targeted, measurable, and impactful.”

Shamim Nabuuma, Chief Executive Officer of Chil AI Lab, underscored the role of innovation in advancing public health outcomes.

“True innovation in public health lies in transparency, speed, and scalability. With AI, we’re transforming hygiene education from a passive lesson into an active, measurable, and life-saving skill,” she said.

The initiative includes three-phase evaluations each academic term to track knowledge retention over time and incorporates gamified learning elements to encourage student engagement and excellence. By combining digital assessment tools with district-level oversight, the program aims to provide sustainable, evidence-based support for hygiene education.

The nationwide rollout marks a significant step in integrating digital innovation with public health education in Uganda, empowering local leaders to monitor, improve, and sustain hygiene practices across the country’s educational landscape.
