Pastors’ wives from across the North Kigezi Diocese have been urged to focus on their spiritual, mental, and physical well-being as a foundation for strong families and effective church ministry.
The call came from Dr Phillipa Piper, wife of Eng. Graham Piper, Chairperson of WATSAN Uganda UK Support Group, during a one-day conference held at the Canon Beatrice Ruhindi Skills Training Centre in Kinyasano, Rukungiri District.
The event brought together clergy wives for fellowship, reflection, and empowerment.
In her keynote address, Dr. Piper highlighted spiritual growth as the cornerstone of a healthy and impactful life. Drawing on scriptures such as 1 Peter 2:9, Hebrews 13:5, and Zephaniah 3:17, she reminded participants that they are chosen, treasured, and deeply loved by God.
“Your identity in Christ is the anchor for everything you do in your homes and ministries,” she said, encouraging the women to cultivate a strong and personal relationship with God.
Using biblical examples, Piper illustrated the power of prayer and redemption. She referenced Hannah’s persistent prayers in 1 Samuel and Rahab’s story in Joshua 2, highlighting Rahab’s inclusion in Jesus’ genealogy in Matthew 1 as a testament to forgiveness and restoration.
She further cited 2 Corinthians 5:17, emphasizing that anyone in Christ is a new creation regardless of their past.
The conference also addressed mental health awareness, stress management, and practical strategies for maintaining physical well-being. Participants engaged in discussions and took part in exercise sessions designed to promote balanced living and self-care.
Ms Florence Asiimwe, wife of Diocesan Bishop Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe, encouraged pastors’ wives to remain steadfast in their faith amid family and ministry challenges.
She commended attendees for their commitment and urged them to apply the lessons learned within their homes and congregations.
The gathering concluded with renewed encouragement and appreciation among participants, who valued the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and grow together in their calling.
Organizers described the conference as part of ongoing efforts by the North Kigezi Diocese to support clergy families and strengthen church ministry at the grassroots level.
