Absa Bank Uganda has announced the return of the Absa KH3 – 7 Hills Run, a purpose-driven initiative that has grown beyond a race into a powerful movement for social impact. Organized in partnership with the Kampala Hash House Harriers, the 2026 edition will take place on April 26, 2026, at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Since its launch in 2023, the Absa KH3 7 Hills Run has raised a cumulative shs900 million to support girls’ education across Uganda.

The impact has grown steadily over the years, with shs200 million raised in 2023, shs300 million in 2024, and shs 400 million in 2025. This year, the initiative sets an even more ambitious goal—8,000 participants—as it continues to scale its impact.

“This isn’t just about running,” said David Wandera, Managing Director of Absa Bank Uganda, during the launch. “It’s about creating lasting change. When we keep a girl in school, we are investing in the future of our communities and our country. The response over the past three years has been incredible. More than 21,900 girls have already benefited, and we are just getting started.”

The 21-kilometre run is a celebration of Kampala’s heritage, taking participants across the city’s historic seven hills—Kibuli, Nakasero, Old Kampala, Namirembe, Rubaga, Lubiri, and Nsambya. The course offers a challenging yet scenic experience, allowing runners to engage with the city in a uniquely meaningful way.

Alice Gita Okecho, Hash Master of the Kampala Hash House Harriers, shared her excitement about the continued partnership.

“We have organized the 7 Hills Run since 2000 to promote healthy lifestyles within the corporate community. Partnering with Absa has elevated the run’s purpose. Every kilometre completed translates into opportunities for young girls who might otherwise drop out of school. That is powerful motivation.”

Participation has steadily increased, with 6,250 runners in 2025, up from 5,500 in 2024, reflecting growing enthusiasm for the cause.

This year’s edition also raises the stakes with exciting incentives. The top two male and top two female runners who complete all seven hills will earn slots in the prestigious Run Your City Series in South Africa. In addition, Bakayima has contributed two land titles—one each for the top male and female runners who successfully complete all seven hills.

Funds raised from the run will support organizations dedicated to improving access to education for girls, including Baylor College of Medicine’s DREAMS Programme, Amref Health Africa, Windle International, World Vision, Nyaka AIDS Orphan Project, Katalemwa Cheshire Home, and Smart Girls Uganda. These partnerships ensure that every shilling raised directly addresses barriers that keep girls out of school.

The event continues to attract strong corporate and community support. Pepsi returns as the official hydration partner, while Bakayima, Mighty Rides, and 16 running clubs from across Uganda have already confirmed participation—bringing together a community united by fitness, purpose, and social impact.
