Out of 5,896 pupils, including both nationals and refugees, who sat for the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) in Adjumani District, at least 111 candidates passed in Division One. Of these, 78 were males and 33 females, representing 1.9 per cent of the total candidature.
According to the PLE 2025 divisional distribution table released by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), 1,502 candidates passed in Division Two (931 males and 571 females), accounting for 25.8 per cent. A total of 1,907 candidates passed in Division Three (1,094 males and 813 females), representing 32.7 per cent.
Meanwhile, 1,008 candidates obtained Division Four (568 males and 440 females), accounting for 17.3 per cent, while 1,297 candidates fell in Division U (594 males and 703 females), representing 22.3 per cent. Another 71 candidates obtained Division X, including 35 males and 36 females, accounting for 1.2 per cent.
At Redeemer Children’s Primary School in Adjumani Town Council, 68 candidates sat for the examinations. Of these, 25 pupils passed in Division One while 43 obtained Division Two.
Thirteen-year-old Anzoa Josselyn Jay emerged as the best learner at Redeemer Children’s Primary School after scoring an aggregate of six. She obtained Distinction One in Mathematics, Science, and English, and Credit Three in Social Studies (SST).
Anzoa credited her success to the support and encouragement of her parents, teachers, and classmates. She thanked her parents, Jimmy Guma, popularly known as C Jay, a civil engineer, and Beatrice Mazapke, an entrepreneur, for supporting her academic journey. She aspires to become a medical doctor in the future.
Andrew Sala, the Director of Studies at Redeemer Children’s Primary School, confirmed the results, noting that all 68 candidates had sat for the exams, with 25 in Division One and 43 in Division Two.
Nationally, UNEB reported that 730,233 candidates passed the 2025 PLE. The majority, 388,293, passed in Division Two, followed by 165,226 in Division Three, 91,990 in Division One, and 84,724 in Division Four. A total of 818,010 candidates registered for the 2025 PLE, marking a 2.5 per cent increase from the 797,444 candidates registered in 2024
