Ahishakiye Innocent has been praised by the Katikkiro of Buganda for leveraging social media to extend the reach of his messages, particularly to young audiences.

During a courtesy visit to Bulange Mengo, the Buganda Kingdom headquarters, Ahishakiye briefed the Katikkiro on his journey of sharing excerpts and statements from the Katikkiro’s public engagements through his TikTok platform, saying the content had significantly shaped his work and expanded his audience.

Ahishakiye said he intentionally focused on disseminating the Katikkiro’s messages to young people, who form the largest demographic on social media.

“I was very interested in the Katikkiro’s message reaching the youth because they are the majority on social media, and I believe I have achieved this goal successfully,” he said.

However, he revealed that the effort had not been without challenges. Ahishakiye said he faced opposition from individuals who attempted to stop him from sharing the Katikkiro’s words, adding that he was at times threatened.

“I encountered many challenges and threats from people who wanted to block me from spreading the Katikkiro’s message, but I stayed on course until God connected me to the person I had always wished to reach,” he said.

In his response, the Katikkiro described social media as one of the most influential modern tools, noting that while it offers immense benefits, misuse can undermine its purpose.

“Social media has many benefits. It is a space for learning, marketing products, sharing information and entertainment,” he said, adding that Ahishakiye’s work fell within educational and entertaining digital content.

The Katikkiro strongly condemned the use of social media to insult or abuse others, warning that such conduct is unsustainable.

“Anyone who uses social media to insult others cannot last long doing so,” he said.

He thanked Ahishakiye for extending his message to a wider audience and advised him to continue improving his work by embracing good practices such as time management, discipline, avoiding unnecessary arguments and cultivating a strong reading culture to enhance research and knowledge.
