Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has stated that President Yoweri Museveni's leadership is divinely ordained, saying "there is no leadership that doesn’t come from God".
She made the remark while appearing on NBS TV's popular talkshow Barometer on Tuesday.
Nabbanja's comments come after President Museveni winning another presidential election. The Prime Minister has been a vocal supporter of Museveni, praising his leadership and vision for Uganda's development.
"You gave me the premier job. Your Excellency, you are my hero. I can say that all that I have is because of you. The President can make anybody, apart from God — you are the next," Nabbanja said, expressing her gratitude to Museveni.
Nabbanja's remarks have sparked debate, with some interpreting them as an attempt to legitimize Museveni's long tenure in power. Museveni has been in power for over 40 years, and his presidency has been marked by controversy and criticism from opposition groups.
