During the same event, NBS Television journalist Mildred Tuhaise was also recognised for her individual contribution to the coverage of the 2026 elections.

The citation described Tuhaise’s work as an outstanding media contribution marked by distinguished professional efforts demonstrated during the accompaniment and coverage of the electoral process with integrity and objectivity. It further acknowledged the vital role of professional media and said the recognition was intended to appreciate her contribution to informing the public during the elections.

Tuhaise said she was humbled by the acknowledgment, describing it as recognition of work she is deeply passionate about. She said the award prompted her to reflect on her professional journey, including moments when she considered leaving the media industry.

She credited former TOP TV manager Steven Dunstan Busuulwa, now with BBS Terefayina, for encouraging her to persevere despite challenges.

“He told me to continue working because you never know who is watching, and that he would not accept my resignation until I had an appointment letter from another workplace,” Tuhaise said.

She said the encouragement helped her remain in the profession and continue developing her talent, which she believes has now been affirmed through the recognition.
